Patients of the Family Medicine Obstetrics Program benefit from the family medicine philosophy of whole person care and have access to a social worker and dietician.
During a low-risk pregnancy, you will see your doctor for appointments every 4 weeks from the time of your referral to 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and then every week until you have your baby. Information about routine tests recommended in pregnancy can be found HERE
During your pregnancy, you will meet all the providers in our group so that you have a relationship with the doctor who delivers your baby.
Who We Serve:
We provide comprehensive pregnancy care to low risk women in west Ottawa, the Ottawa Valley and Lanark county.
Our group members hold privileges for delivery at the Almonte General Hospital. The unit has five private postpartum rooms with their own washroom and shower, two labour and delivery rooms, showers, and an operating room for cesarean sections. Ultrasound services are available on site. A full range of pain management options are available, including 24-hour epidural service. With a commitment to best practice, we have the distinction of being Ontario’s top performer in Maternity care.
